DISCOVER ALL TILING TOOLS AND ACCESSORIES

Do not waste time and improve your work, with professional tile cutting tools for cutting, scoring and drilling stone materials.

Montolit Brevetti Spa has over thirty years of experience in the development, production and marketing of professional tile drilling tools such as diamond tile drill bits and diamond core drill bits. Also, Montolit was the first company in the world to develop the dry diamond grinding system for porcelain tiles.

Montolit Tile Drilling Tools

Montolit’s family of tile drilling tools includes a wide range of solutions each one specifically designed for a given material or application.

  • Tile drill bits for porcelain and ceramics tiles, marble, granite and natural stone (FA type)
  • Tile drill bits for dry drilling of porcelain slabs and large format tiles, using an angle grinder (FSS type)
  • Diamond tile drill bits for dry and wet drilling of concrete, reinforced concrete, abrasive bricks (FUT, FUXT, FUXLT, FX type)
  • Segmented diamond tile drill bits for dry drilling of thick porcelain tiles stoneware and granite (2 cm – 3/4 Inches) with an angle grinder ( FT-S and FT types)
  • Tile drill bits for modeling and strengthening holes
  • Core drill bit for dry drilling of porcelain tiles, granite and marble, using an angle grinder (FS type)
  • Core drill bits for water drilling of glass (FAV type)
  • Small diameter diamond core drill bits for dry drilling of porcelain with a drill (FAJ type for high speed and FTJ type for long-life)
  • Universal diamond drills for enlarging or shaping holes

What makes Montolit tile drilling tools the most durable and trustable solutions among the existing professional tile drill bits

  • Our diamond core drill bits are made of top-quality synthetic diamonds with sharp corners that increase their cutting performances
  • The quantity of diamond included on the diamond crown of our diamond tile drill bits is related to the specific material to drill
  • The size of the synthetic diamonds present on our ceramic tile drill bits is based on the cutting requirements of the specific stone material that you need to drill
  • We care about details

For each Montolit porcelain tile drill bit we designed a specific welding or vacuum brazing process that grants the best connections between the diamonds and the steel body. A good connection means better resistance to high temperature that means longer life.

How to choose the right tile drill bit?

The following are some useful tips to choose the right professional tile drill bit or core drill bit, according to the tile’s material and thickness, as well as the tilers’ needs.

Define which material you intend to drill

Drilling very hard and thick porcelain requires specific diamond drill bits for porcelain tiles. Professional porcelain tile drill bits are very different from those needed to drill natural stone or ceramics. We could simply say that the harder and more compact the material is, the higher must be the performance of the diamond tile drill bit or of the diamond core drill bit. We can name porcelain stoneware and glass, for example, as very demanding materials.

Choose the right tools for the type of finishing required

Depending on whether the hole is visible or not, it is important to identify the ideal diamond core drill bit. From the aesthetics standpoint, the finishing of a hole’s external profile is linked to both the drilling technique and the type of diamond tool you are using. In general terms, we can state that water-cooled drilling provides very high-quality and accurate hole finishing. It is worth highlighting that in most cases the profile of the hole ends up being covered and therefore you don’t often need a high level of finishing.

Assess the drilling tools you already have

If you already have an electric tool available, such as an angle grinder, a core drilling machine or any special equipment, it will be essential to choose a tile drill bit or a core drill bit that can be correctly assembled on it. In general terms, a flexible (which normally has about 8.000 – 11.000 rpm) will be able to make holes in a much faster way than a drill (which usually has 800 – 1200 rpm). If the primary objective is the drilling speed, the angle grinder will guarantee a better performance.

Set the total number of holes to be made as the key metric

In Montolit’s range of products there are different types of diamond tile drill bits that can be used to make holes in the same type of material. The difference is often related to performance in terms of durability and speed, as well as finishing quality of the hole. Considering the case of professional installers who need to make several dozens if not hundreds of holes per month, it is certainly advisable to use high-performance professional tile drill bits designed to guarantee a very low cost per hole, even when compared to standard drills.

Consider the differences between dry and wet drilling

Also in this case it is necessary to assess the specific situation and the electric tool you have available. The use of water to cool down the electric tool helps increase the lifespan of the diamond grinder, it gives better quality finishing, and it reduces or even eliminates the discomfort caused by dust. However, these power tools must be prepared with the appropriate protections and settings to work safely in humid environments.

Dry drilling guarantees convenience, speed and excellent overall performances on all types of materials.
